Community health promotion

In an effort to contribute towards reduction in maternal deaths and increased child survival, VVIVA focuses on promoting timely uptake of health services in communities.  In partnership with District Health Offices and sub district health facilities, VVIVA mobilizes communities to access ante natal care, immunization, management of childhood illnesses HIV Counselling and Testing (HCT) as well as advocating for quality health services. VVIVA further works with the trained Village Health Teams (VHT) to reach communities and families with knowledge on caring for pregnant mothers, health seeking behavior, attending Ante Natal Care (ANC) up to the fourth visit, post natal and neonatal care. The VHTs support in door to door management of childhood illnesses by assessing signs and symptoms, administering first aid and making referrals of complicated cases to health facilities.
